Painted by Stefano di Giovanni (Sassetta) ca. 1430-2. Displayed in the Uffici Gallery. The iconography is inspired by the founding of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, which was built on the site of a miraculous fall of snow on August of 358 AD.
